Job summary

NOVA Engineering & Environmental seeks a Threshold Inspector (Structural Field Engineer) based in Tampa, FL. The role covers structural steel reviews, reading project plans, reporting data, and ensuring calibration of test equipment while meeting project specs and policies.

Required: ICC Building Inspector license or multiple ICC Special Inspector licenses; FE with 6+ months threshold inspection experience welcome; ACI Level 1.

Qualifications

• Ability to read/understand project plans and specifications.
• Experience per F.A.C. 61G15-35.004., Licenses: ICC Building Inspector or ICC Special Inspector licenses (Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Welding & Bolting).
• ACI Concrete Field Testing - Level 1.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural steel reviews, including bolted and welded connections, CMU, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, post tension cable, precast/prestress members, wood structures and cold-formed metals.
• Read/understand project plans and specifications.
• Report data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion.
• Ensure calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle and well-maintained.
• Operate company vehicle, maintain vehicle, and travel to work sites as required.
• Communicate with dispatching/field supervisor on job status.
• Ensure project requirements are met and compliant with specifications and policies.

NOVA Engineering & Environmental has an opening for a locally based Threshold Inspector (Structural Field Engineer) for our Tampa, FL office.

Job Responsibilities:

• The Special (Threshold) Inspector Authorized Representative will perform structural steel reviews, including bolted and welded connections, CMU, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, post tension cable, precast/prestress members, wood structures and cold-formed metals.
• Ability to read/understand project plans and specifications.
• Report data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion.
• Ensure that all test equipment used is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle.
• Lawfully operate a motor vehicle. Maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, check fluid levels, inside/outside upkeep).
• Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required. Cellular phones are to be worn at all times and calls are to be returned immediately.
• Ensure that project requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements and company policies or procedures. Attend all technician meetings.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience per F.A.C. 61G15-35.004
• Licensed ICC Building Inspector or multiple ICC Special Inspector licenses (Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Welding & Bolting)
• Also willing to hire a Civil/Structural Engineering graduate who has passed FE exam and 6+ months of structural threshold inspection experience
• ACI Concrete Field Testing - Level 1

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with concrete, including ICC, PTI and ACI certifications a huge plus
• PE license
