NOVA Engineering & Environmental has an opening for a locally based Threshold Inspector (Structural Field Engineer) in our Tampa, FL office.

The role performs structural reviews, reads project plans, and ensures equipment calibration and regulatory compliance while supporting field operations and client projects in the greater Tampa area.

Qualifications

• Experience per F.A.C. 61G15-35.004.
• Licensed ICC Building Inspector or ICC Special Inspector licenses.
• Civil/Structural Engineering grad with FE passing and 6+ months threshold inspection.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing - Level 1.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural reviews of bolted and welded connections, CMU, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, post tension cable, precast/prestress members and wood structures.
• Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
• Report data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion.
• Ensure calibration of test equipment and proper maintenance within calibration cycles.
• Maintain company vehicle and schedule routine upkeep.
• Communicate status with dispatch and field supervisor; respond to calls promptly.
• Attend technician meetings and ensure project requirements meet specifications.

Description

NOVA Engineering & Environmental has an opening for a locally based Threshold Inspector (Structural Field Engineer) for our Tampa, FL office.

Job Responsibilities:

• The Special (Threshold) Inspector Authorized Representative will perform structural steel reviews, including bolted and welded connections, CMU, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, post tension cable, precast/prestress members, wood structures and cold-formed metals.
• Ability to read/understand project plans and specifications.
• Report data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion.
• Ensure that all test equipment used is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle.
• Lawfully operate a motor vehicle. Maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, check fluid levels, inside/outside upkeep).
• Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required. Cellular phones are to be worn at all times and calls are to be returned immediately.
• Ensure that project requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements and company policies or procedures. Attend all technician meetings.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience per F.A.C. 61G15-35.004
• Licensed ICC Building Inspector or multiple ICC Special Inspector licenses (Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Welding & Bolting)
• Also willing to hire a Civil/Structural Engineering graduate who has passed FE exam and 6+ months of structural threshold inspection experience
• ACI Concrete Field Testing - Level 1

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with concrete, including ICC, PTI and ACI certifications a huge plus
• PE license
