Job summary

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering, a PE license (California licensure preferred), and 7+ years of lead experience in commercial, multifamily, or mixed‑use buildings.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple structural engineering projects from initial design through project completion.
• Develop and oversee structural systems for commercial, multifamily, mixed-use, and other building projects.
• Perform and oversee structural analysis, calculations, design, and preparation of construction documents.
• Design and manage projects utilizing structural systems including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and/or post-tensioned concrete.
• Collaborate with the Principal-in-Charge on structural system selection, design approach, and technical execution.
• Review calculations, drawings, specifications, and deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
• Establish and manage project scope, fees, budgets, staffing requirements, and schedules.
• Coordinate, prepare, and respond to RFPs, RFQs, proposals, and client solicitations and ensure profitability.

Overview:

A growing engineering firm is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support its structural engineering practice. This role is responsible for leading multiple projects, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring technical excellence from proposal through project completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage multiple structural engineering projects from initial design through project completion
• Develop and oversee structural systems for commercial, multifamily, mixed-use, residential, and other building projects
• Perform and oversee structural analysis, calculations, design, and preparation of construction documents
• Design and manage projects utilizing structural systems including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and/or post-tensioned concrete
• Collaborate directly with the Principal-in-Charge on structural system selection, design approach, and technical execution
• Review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and deliverables prepared by Project Engineers and design staff
• Ensure technical accuracy, quality control, constructability, and compliance with applicable building codes and project standards
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, developers, contractors, and other project stakeholders
• Establish and manage project scope, fees, budgets, staffing requirements, and schedules in partnership with firm leadership
• Monitor project costs and timelines to maintain profitability and contractual commitments
• Identify changes in project scope and prepare proposals for additional services when necessary
• Coordinate, prepare, and respond to RFPs, RFQs, proposals, and other client solicitations

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required/preferred; California licensure is required
• Approximately 7+ years of structural engineering experience, with demonstrated project leadership responsibilities
• Strong background in the structural design of buildings, ideally including commercial, multifamily, mixed-use, high-end residential, or similar projects
