Job summary

KPFF San Diego invites applications for its Summer 2027 internship program. The selected candidate will work closely with local KPFF engineers, located in our San Diego, California office, gaining hands-on experience across civil and structural projects.

The program emphasizes in-house training and mentorship, with exposure to a variety of projects to develop skills in structural analysis and design. Applicants should be current students with relevant coursework and a minimum GPA; transcripts

Qualifications

• Current student who has completed at least 3 years of BS in Civil or Architectural Engineering with emphasis in structures.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 in bachelor’s coursework.
• Solid understanding of structural engineering fundamentals (free body diagrams, P/V/M diagrams).
• Master’s degree in Civil/Structural engineering is a plus and in-progress.

Responsibilities

• Support KPFF engineers in San Diego on Summer 2027 projects.
• Receive in-house training, mentorship, and hands-on project experience.

Job Description

The KPFF San Diego office is accepting internship applications for our Summer 2027 program! This person will work closely with other local KPFF engineers, and will work out of our office in San Diego, California.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Current student who has completed as least 3 years of BS Degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structures.
• Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA or above in Bachelor’s coursework.
• Understanding of structural engineering fundamentals (free body diagrams, P/V/M diagrams, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• BS Degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering and in-process of obtaining Master’s degree in Civil/Structural.
• Previous internship experience in a Structural or Civil Engineering role.

• Candidates with transcripts showing completed coursework in:
  • Structural Statics and Dynamics
  • Steel Design
  • Concrete Design
  • Wood Design
  • Seismic Analysis and Design

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on education and experience. KPFF benefits include worker's comp insurance, sick and holiday paid time off, overtime pay, career development programs, and much more.
