Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic Structural Engineering (Water/Wastewater) Intern to join our Water/Wastewater team. This internship offers opportunities for undergrad and grad students to work with experienced structural engineers on water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

You will gain hands‑on exposure to structural engineering practices while supporting design and construction across multiple project phases, with mentorship, software tools, and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Interest in structural engineering for water and wastewater facilities.
• Familiarity with design software is a plus (e.g., Autodesk, FE analysis).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural design and analysis tasks under licensed engineers.
• Support development of structural plans, layouts, and concepts.
• Prepare drawings, sketches, and calculations for construction documents.
• Conduct research on design options, codes, and standards.
• Assist with basic calculations such as heights, weights, and concrete quantities.
• Support cost estimating with take-offs and vendor information.
• Review shop drawings and submittals with oversight from senior staff.
• Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Assist with field observations and documentation of conditions or construction progress.
• Use computer‑assisted engineering software to support documentation and analysis.

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Structural Engineering (Water/Wastewater) Intern to join our Water/Wastewater team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level students to work alongside experienced structural engineers and contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Interns will gain hands‑on exposure to structural engineering practices while supporting high‑quality projects throughout various phases of design and construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with structural design and analysis tasks for water and wastewater facilities under the guidance of licensed engineers.
• Support the development of structural plans, layouts, and design concepts.
• Help prepare drawings, sketches, and calculations for incorporation into construction documents.
• Conduct research on design options, codes, and standards applicable to water and wastewater structures.
• Assist with basic calculations such as structure heights and weights, concrete quantities, and equipment fit‑up.
• Support cost estimating efforts, including quantity take‑offs and gathering vendor information.
• Review shop drawings and technical submittals with oversight from senior staff.
• Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
• Assist with field observations and documentation of existing conditions or construction progress, as needed.
• Use computer‑assisted engineering and design software to support project documentation and analysis.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong interest in structural engineering within the water and wastewater industry.
• Familiarity with structural analysis or design software is a plus (e.g., finite element modeling tools, Autodesk platforms).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment.

Compensation Range

$47,959.00 - $54,498.00
