Job summary

STV is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team. This hybrid internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to learn and contribute to meaningful projects, with at least three days per week in the office and a commitment of three months or more.

You will assist in the design and analysis of bridges, prepare calculations and drawings, and participate in inspections and reporting under supervision of senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering at an ABET-accredited university or equivalent.
• Preference for candidates with architecture/engineering/construction management experience.
• Familiarity with NBIS bridge inspection procedures and DOT standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and analysis of bridges and structures.
• Prepare design calculations, construction drawings, and technical reports.
• Participate in inspection and rating of existing structures for safety compliance.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to present design information and interpret data.
• Engage in both office and on-site activities to understand structural engineering processes.

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Structural Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside our experienced team, learn, and contribute to meaningful projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months and can work full-time.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design and analysis of bridges and other structures, applying engineering principles and techniques.
• Support the preparation of design calculations, construction drawings, and technical reports.
• Participate in the inspection and rating of existing structures, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and present design information, including organizing and interpreting data.
• Engage in both office-based tasks and on-site activities, gaining a comprehensive understanding of structural engineering processes.
• Assist in preparing project documentation, including reports, proposals, and presentations.
• Learn and apply relevant industry standards and best practices in structural design and inspection.
• Perform other tasks as assigned to support project goals and team objectives.

Required:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering at an ABET-accredited University or NCEES equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the architecture/engineering/construction management industry.
• Familiarity with bridge inspection procedures (e.g., NBIS - National Bridge Inspection Standards).
• Exposure to structural analysis software such as SAP2000, MIDAS, or CSI Bridge.
• Understanding of load rating calculations for bridges.
• Basic knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods used in bridge inspections.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit for drafting and detailing.
• Understanding of AASHTO and DOT standards related to bridge design and inspection.
• Exposure to structural materials (steel, concrete, timber, and masonry) and deterioration mechanisms.

Compensation Range:

$41,107.00 - $46,713.00
