Job summary

IMEG, an employee-owned firm, seeks a Structural Engineering Intern in Raleigh, NC for a 10-12 week summer program. You will assist in analysis, design, and oversight of structural systems under experienced engineers, in a paid, mentored internship with site observations and documentation duties.

Qualifications include at least 2 years toward a BS in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering and a strong interest in design consulting. Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD/BIM is expected.

  • Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files.
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and suppliers.
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions promptly while monitoring project design progress.
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check.

IMEG, formerly Lynch Mykins Structural Engineers, PC, is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Raleigh, NC. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of structural systems in buildings and other structures while working closely with experienced engineers and consultants in a paid, mentored internship.


You will support project documentation, cross-disciplinary coordination, and periodic job site observations while helping the team work within project budgets and meet project goals and client expectations. You'll contribute to structural work across the team’s commercial portfolio, alongside broader public-sector, education, healthcare, and multifamily experience, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

What You'll Bring

Education


  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required

Required Skills/Abilities


  • Strong interest in design consulting

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred


Physical Requirements


  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds

  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull

  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
