AECOM is inviting students to join as a Structural Engineering Intern in Atlanta, GA, for Spring/Summer 2027. The role focuses on developing design documentation with Revit, AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu, performing site visits, and collaborating across disciplines.

The program offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities to learn aboutchoosing projects from planning to construction while working on real infrastructure challenges.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least one year of study completed.
  • Graduates pursuing a Master’s degree are eligible to apply.
  • Interest in an advanced degree at internship conclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural design documentation (3D models, plans, sketches, and details) using Revit, AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Review construction submittals and RFIs for detailed, timely responses.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines for coordinated technical solutions.
  • Perform condition assessments and site visits and prepare written reports.
  • Assist with internship program coordination and project documentation.
  • Support Spring/Summer 2027 start and on-site assignments in Atlanta.

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Atlanta, GA November 5th and 6th . This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027.

The event kicks off on Thursday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm,where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Friday, interviews will take place at our Atlanta office.This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern to be based in Atlanta, GA.

This position is expected to begin Spring/Summer 2027.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study
  • Develop structural design documentation (3D models, plans, sketches, and details) using Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Review construction submittals and RFI’s towards the development of detailed, timely responses.
  • Collaborate with other in-house engineering disciplines for coordinated technical solutions.
  • Perform condition assessments and site visits as needed and prepare written reports.
  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or another related field and must have completed at least 1 year of study. Candidates who havegraduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Some production software experience including but not limited to: Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, Bluebeam Revu.
  • Previous relevant internship experience in the execution of structural design projects is a plus.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
