Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Houston, TX is seeking Engineering Interns to apply standard engineering techniques to design and update projects, assist lead engineers, and support various duties across market segments. This paid internship focuses on real-world tasks in Transmission & Distribution and other groups.

Candidates should pursue a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, show strong communication and problem‑solving skills, and be legally eligible to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and Power Point presentation.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• CANDIDATES must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
