Job summary

The University of Minnesota's CEGE department invites applications for a faculty position focusing on teaching structural mechanics and design at undergraduate and graduate levels. You will develop course plans, deliver engaging lectures, and contribute to curriculum redesign while mentoring students and advancing equity, diversity, and social justice on campus.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in a relevant field with experience
  • Demonstrate high command of subject matter
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • College-level teaching experience or professional experience in a relevant field
  • Experience teaching in the structural engineering discipline
  • Experience managing a Master’s program

Responsibilities

  • Teach structural mechanics and design courses at undergraduate and graduate level
  • Prepare well organized course plans and deliver courses clearly to students
  • Participate in curricular development including development of new courses and redesign of current courses
  • Mentor students inside and outside the classroom
  • Support equity, diversity, and social justice on campus
  • Maintain a positive student teaching evaluation record
  • Participate in ongoing professional activities in one's discipline
  • Manage the department's 1-year Master’s degree program
