Job Overview
If you're an experienced Structural Engineer who values a team‑oriented workplace and growth opportunity, we’re hiring! This role focuses on bridge and transportation structure design through Design‑Bid‑Build and Design‑Build projects. The position reports to Megan Mott, PE.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop structural calculations and produce engineering drawings for bridge and transportation structures.
- Perform and direct engineering alternatives investigations through data collection, analysis, calculations, and evaluation of alternate solutions.
- Prepare written technical reports.
- Support construction phase of projects, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, problem solving, etc.
- Train and mentor junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. from an ABET‑accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer (professionally licensed).
- 0–5 years post‑PE registration structural engineering experience.
- 4+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience in reinforced concrete, prestressed/post‑tensioned concrete, steel plate and box girder bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, sign/signal structures, sound barriers, and other transportation‑related structures.
- Experience using bridge design software such as FB Multi‑Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, Smartbridge, LARSA, CSI, STAAD, MDX, Shoring Suite, Atlas, and the FDOT MathCAD suite.
- Proficiency in MicroStation, GEOPAK, OpenBridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or CAD platforms for transportation structure design and plans.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, time‑management and self‑initiative skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and drive projects to client deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s (MSE/MSCE) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- PE and/or SE certification in Florida or ability to obtain Florida registration.
- Familiarity with FDOT Structures Manual and FDOT Construction Specifications.
- Experience with construction specialty engineering and post‑tensioning applications.
- Ability to do 3D modeling in OpenBridge Modeler is a plus.
