Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Structural Engineer (Level 3/4) to join the MEP Team in Goleta, CA or Oxnard, CA. You will perform design analysis and testing for spacecraft subsystems, with ownership from concept through design and production involvement. On-site roles with potential career progression and a strong focus on reliability and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications include a STEM Bachelor's and 5+ years of FEA experience (NASTRAN), materials knowledge, and leadership abilities. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with FEA analysis, ie: NASTRAN, for structural analysis of designs.
  • Experience with spacecraft/aerospace materials in metals, adhesives, thermoplastics, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical system design.
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
  • US Citizenship is required.

This position can be located in either Goleta, CA or Oxnard, CA. This position can be filled at a level 2 or level 3. You will have ownership of your work from the concept creation through the design and analysis phases and may also participate in the manufacturing, testing, and integration of the systems.

Basic Qualifications or Level 4:

  • Demonstrated experience with FEA analysis, ie: NASTRAN, for structural analysis of designs
  • Experience with spacecraft/aerospace materials in metals, adhesives, thermoplastics, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical system design
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineers
  • US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a STEM discipline
  • Experience with structures and mechanisms for moving mechanical assemblies such as solar arrays, booms, and other support structures and mechanisms for satellite subsystems 4 or more years of direct Structural Engineering experience, preferably in the spacecraft or aerospace industry, with significant project ownership
  • Detailed mechanical design knowledge of structures, mechanisms, release and drive actuators, and material selection
  • Working knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes such as machining, finishing, and rapid prototyping
  • Problem solving skills with hands-on project experience
  • Self-motivated with excellent technical communication skills

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
