Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) seeks an entry-level Structural Engineer in our Waltham, MA office, joining a national firm known for innovative building and enclosure consulting. You will assist in design, evaluation, and repairs for complex structures, performing analysis on steel, concrete, masonry, and wood while coordinating with senior staff on site investigations and design development.

The role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, and the desire to learn.

Qualifications

MS in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills required.
FE/EIT certification preferred.
Strong attention to detail and analytical and judgment capabilities required.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE.

Responsibilities

Assist with new design, evaluation, investigation, and design of repairs for existing buildings.
Perform a wide range of structural engineering analysis and design tasks in steel, concrete, masonry and wood structures.
Aid senior staff during construction administration and site investigations.
Prepare drawings and specifications under supervision.
Collaborate with team to provide effective engineering solutions.
