Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a structurally minded Engineer-in-Training to advance through professional education and certification while supporting project teams on both permanent and temporary structures.

You will analyze designs per current codes, draft shop drawings, and collaborate with project engineers to resolve issues on-site and in office settings. This is an entry-level opportunity with growth toward FE certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Structural/Civil/Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience or internship.
• Experience with permanent and temporary structures, construction engineering, or construction labor is a plus.
• FE Exam passed or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
• Strong understanding of constructability and solid engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with CAD/engineering design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, RISA-3D, MathCAD, Sky Civ, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Authorized to work legally in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Have an in-depth understanding and ability to analyze and design per current design codes and structural mechanics.
• Design permanent structures such as bridges, sign foundations, moment slabs, and MSE walls.
• Design temporary structures including formwork/falsework, erection, demolition, and heavy lift planning.
• Support excavation systems and perform load ratings/evaluations of existing structures.
• Provide on-site design engineering support and inspections; coordinate with project engineers and managers.
• Assist with material and shop drawing submittals and reviews.
