Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers in Sacramento seeks a detail-oriented Structural Engineer in Training with at least three years of experience. You will design, analyze, and oversee structural systems across commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects, coordinating with architects and contractors to deliver safe, code-compliant solutions.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, EIT, and progress toward PE licensure, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, and SAP2000.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • EIT certification required.
  • PE certification obtained or actively in progress.
  • At least three years of relevant full-time experience in structural engineering design.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000) and building codes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations using industry-standard software and methodologies.
  • Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and technical documentation in compliance with building codes and standards.
  • Conduct site assessments and evaluations to identify structural requirements and potential challenges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, MEP engineers, and contractors for project coordination.
  • Review construction documents, shop drawings, and submittals for structural compliance.
  • Provide technical support during construction administration and resolve on-site structural issues.
  • Optimize structural designs for cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and constructability.
  • Keep project files organized and audit-ready.
  • Stay updated on evolving codes and best practices, applying them to daily work.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations clearly to clients and stakeholders.

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Engineer in Training with at least three years of professional experience to join our growing team in Sacramento, CA. You will design, analyze, and oversee structural systems for a diverse range of commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects. Working closely with architects, contractors, and project managers, you will deliver safe, efficient, and code-compliant structural solutions that clients can count on.

What You'll Do
  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations using industry-standard software and methodologies

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • This role includes regular desk work and occasional site visits, which may involve climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and light lifting (up to 15 lbs).

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation

The base salary for this role is competitive, with a range of $75,000 - $100,000, determined by experience, education, and skills. KPFF also offers performance-based bonuses to recognize outstanding contributions. Additional details about the full compensation package will be provided during the interview process.
