Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Structural Engineer II to join the New Glenn program in the Greater Seattle Area. You will design and analyze primary and secondary structures for a high-rate aerospace vehicle, build 3D models and drawings, and work with manufacturing to ensure successful hardware integration.

The role requires a BS in engineering with 2+ years of experience in structural design for launch vehicles or similar applications, proficiency in Creo, and knowledge of FEA tools and GD&T.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 2+ years of related experience.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident, or eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Experience with launch vehicles, aircraft, or similar structural design.
  • Experience with metallic components, load path distribution, and strength sizing.
  • Knowledge of material selection, compatibility, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong understanding of structural design and analysis fundamentals.
  • Proficient in Creo for mechanical design.
  • Ability to perform structural analysis using hand calculations and FE methods.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of primary and secondary structures.
  • Create 3D models, part drawings, assemblies, and interface control documents.
  • Coordinate with other subsystem teams on the design of structural interfaces.
  • Provide on-site manufacturing and production support.
  • Ensure production quality and disposition hardware nonconformances.
  • Support configuration development and trade studies.
  • Work with teams selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers.
  • Develop and purchase new equipment and tooling.
  • Maintain activity schedule, budget and technical status.
  • Find opportunities for improvements and operational cost savings.
