HDR is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our Hydropower team in Charlotte. This individual must have the technical skills and desire to support structural engineering design, repair, and retrofit utility projects for our nationally recognized Power Practice.

In this role, we'll count on you to:

1. Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications for structural engineering projects.
2. Design structural steel and reinforced concrete in accordance with AISC and ACI codes respectively.
3. Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and complete necessary calculations.
4. Participate in design reviews with various clients and governing agencies for code compliance.
5. Conduct design development sessions at project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
6. Take responsibility for coordinating workload through design development and construction document phases to complete the documents on schedule.
7. Coordinate and assist with affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
8. Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with concrete dams, structural steel gates, and stability of concrete structures is desirable but not required.
• Local candidates are preferred.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Previous structural engineer experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar software
• Experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
• Active participation in our employee-owned culture
