Job description

Overview

Cordoba is looking for a Professionally Licensed in California Structural Engineer to assist one of its K-12 client in the Los Angeles area. The Structural Engineer will make recommendations and provide technical direction to commissioned architects or other structural engineers working on the program. Additionally, the Structural Engineer will assist in the development of structural engineering policies throughout the Structural Engineering Unit. Investigation of structural related matters on existing facilities will be part of the Structural Engineer’s duties, and the Structural Engineer may order destructive or non-destructive testing to assess the condition of structural components, including review of geotechnical report information when dealing with foundation structural issues.

Responsibilities
  • Make recommendations, consults with, and gives technical direction to commissioned architects or structural engineers.
  • Provide technical direction to lower-level staff in the Structural Engineering Unit.
  • Evaluate plans and specifications submitted by commissioned or consulting structural.
  • Submit provisions for commissioning by including structural recommendations.
  • Support in the planning and maintenance of structural engineering guidelines.
  • Assist in developing District structural engineering policies.
  • Investigate and create reports for structural engineering systems, structural components and installation to advise contractors, commissioned architects and engineers and District Construction Inspectors.
  • Assign structural testing materials and inspection to laboratories and review test reports.
  • Examine soil tests’ information and make appropriate recommendations regarding structural foundations and structures to be constructed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned .
Qualifications
  • 5 years of full time paid professional experience in similar or equivalent position, involved in managing structural aspects in commercial and/or public or education facility construction projects.
  • A valid Certificate or Registration as a Professional Engineer in Structural Engineering issued by the California State Board of Registration of Civil and Professional Engineers. The professional license shall be kept current during the course of the assignment/employment.
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Structural Engineering and courses in management.
  • Education may be waived with extensive experience and a valid Certificate of Registration as Professional Structural Engineer.

  • Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000 per year.
  • Location: Los Angeles, CA.
  • Work Environment: 100% onsite at district headquarters.
  • Travel: occasional travel to school campuses.
  • Visa Sponsorship: not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Physical Requirements: must be able to lift 40 pounds.
