Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Engineering team in Portland, OR. You will design structural systems from schematic through construction administration, producing detailed drawings and calculations to support sustainable building design.

The candidate will collaborate with architects and engineers on US projects, adapt to varying codes, review contractor submittals, and mentor junior staff as part of a broad multi-office practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of building related structural engineering experience, including the design of concrete, masonry, steel and wood/timber; gravity and lateral systems.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) preferred.
• Working knowledge of current structural software (ETABS, RISA).
• Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural or Architectural/Structural Engineering.
• Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) in the State of Washington and/or State of Oregon.
• Experience with BIM (e.g. Autodesk Revit Structural) workflow.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural solutions from concept through construction.
• Develop system layouts, narratives, calculations and engineering reports.
• Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of our integrated design process.
• Learn and adapt to variations in building codes and construction practices while working on projects around the US.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs and participate in OA/C meetings.
• Mentor entry‑level staff.
• Promote workflow and technical standards best-practices for our diverse multi‑office practice.
