Job summary

Fluidstack in New York seeks a senior structural engineer to support multi-site data center development, focusing on structural design and collaboration with civil, geotech, and MEP teams.

You will review geotechnical studies, manage external engineers, and help develop the basis of design and standard details. The role requires cost awareness and exposure to cutting-edge cooling and power systems within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in structural engineering on large-scale buildings or infrastructure.
• Ability to read geotechnical reports and translate soil/seismic data into structural actions.
• Coordinate with civil, geotech and MEP teams and manage external engineers through IFC.
• Knowledge of foundations, structural steel, and building envelope for large-format buildings.
• Identify structural cost and constructability risks early in project lifecycle.
• Bonus: PE license or active pursuit; data center, industrial or mission-critical structures; ETABS, RAM, or RAM. Seismic design and retrofit experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the structural engineering workstream across a multi-site development portfolio from site screening through design, permitting, and construction completion.
• Support structural due diligence for greenfield and conversion sites: foundation conditions, existing-structure assessments, and geotechnical constraints.
• Review geotechnical reports and assign structural design actions from soil bearing capacities, settlement risk, and seismic classification.
• Develop and maintain structural basis of design, standard details, and specs, and coordinate with civil, geotech, and MEP teams.
• Manage external structural engineers of record through design milestones, reviewing deliverables for quality through IFC.
• Identify structural cost risks during site selection, including retrofit complexity on conversions.
