Job description

Mix of home office and travel to job sites as needed
About Us

Corrosion Probe, Inc. (CPI) is a national engineering consulting firm specializing in structural and mechanical integrity for critical infrastructure. We help clients solve corrosion, failure, and rehabilitation challenges with practical, data‑driven engineering.

The Role

CPI is seeking a structural engineer to join our team to rehabilitation design for Water/Wastewater Infrastructure clients. Work is focused on the Northeast region but includes occasional travel to sites across the nation. Preference will be given to individuals in or willing to relocate to driving distance to Boston, Massachusetts. The position is remote with the candidate able to work from a home office and travel to job sites as needed. Job site work is to inspect structures for condition assessment and rehabilitation design. The ideal candidate thrives in real-world design challenges of rehabilitation of existing structures and getting out from behind the desk, as well as learning from the integrity and performance of existing structures. Designs will focus on asset preservation through intelligent design that includes corrosion prevention considerations by leveraging resources of our other technical experts in metallurgy, protective coatings, and cathodic protection.

What You’ll Do
  • Execute structural analysis and rehabilitation design work on a variety of structures
  • Inspect structures for rehabilitation design and condition assessment primarily of steel and reinforced concrete
  • Learn other disciplines of CPI services to maximize the longevity of structures
  • Lead multiple, medium-sized projects concurrently, while appropriately managing scheduling and client expectations
  • Take diligent notes and record data and observations in the field
  • Write in-depth technical reports and manage client communication
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients
  • Travel ~25% for non-local, short-term assignments
  • Local travel to inspection/job sites (~2 hours)
What You Bring
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective and skilled communicator
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Work to meet 85% billable hours target
  • Desire to learn a variety of technical disciplines and Corrosion Probe services
  • Strong teamwork skills and a “can-do” attitude
  • Physical Requirements: Physical ability to perform field tasks such as climbing ladders/scaffolding, lifting and carrying up to ~50 lbs. on occasion, using power tools for sample collection, and working at heights or in confined spaces, with reasonable accommodations as needed.
Preferred
  • Professional Engineering in relevant disciplines
  • Relevant experience such as with Water/Wastewater industry, corrosion, or condition assessment
  • Certification in applicable industry standards, such as AMPP, NACE, AWS
What We Offer
  • Growth & Stability: year-over-year profitability with steady growth and no history of layoffs
  • Excellent Culture: commitment to our staff for continued professional growth
  • 100% employer-paid premiums for health, vision, and dental

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Be willing to participate in ongoing, randomized drug and alcohol testing as required by DOT standards.
