Job summary

DLR Planning, LLC is seeking a Structural Engineer Associate to support Maintenance & Operations – A&E Services in Southern California. The role focuses on structural design, analysis, and review of district facilities, with site investigations and coordination with architects, engineers, and inspectors.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of full-time professional structural engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with specialization in structural engineering.
• Experience with school building construction is preferred.
• California Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and review structural plans, specifications, calculations, estimates, and reports.
• Review structural work performed by consultants and architects; provide recommendations or revisions as needed.
• Assist with structural design and layout of foundations, floors, walls, roofs, and framing systems for major buildings.
• Review plans, calculations, and alternative construction methods for conformance and accuracy.
• Provide structural recommendations to contractors, architects, engineers, and inspectors during construction.
• Review soils testing data and environmental documentation; provide foundation design recommendations.
• Prepare feasibility studies, preliminary designs, and cost estimates; write technical reports.
• Conduct site investigations and prepare scoping reports and recommendations.
• Assist teams with project status reviews and design changes.
• Performs other duties as assigned
