Job summary

DHA is seeking a structural engineer to join the Structural Group in Silver Spring, MD. You will contribute to a range of high-visibility projects across office, commercial, healthcare, sports, community, residential and mixed-use sectors.

The role requires 0–4 years of relevant experience, a bachelor's in civil/architectural engineering with focus on structures, and EIT certification. AutoCAD/REVIT and RAM/ETABS/RISA proficiency are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering (structures) from an accredited university; Master’s degree a plus.
• EIT certification required.
• 0–4 years of relevant structural design experience in commercial, institutional, residential or infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of RAM, ETABS, RISA, AutoCAD and REVIT.

Responsibilities

• Performing structural analysis and design calculations (beam, column, slab, foundation, walls for wood, concrete, steel, and masonry structures).
• Reading and developing contract plans and specifications.
• Performing field review for projects under construction and surveys of existing structures.
• Performing construction administration duties such as reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs.

Job description

DHA is seeking a structural engineer in the structural department who will work on high visibility and interesting structural engineering projects along with special assignments. The qualified candidate will have at least 0 to 4 years of relevant experience in a structural engineering consulting role. The candidate will participating on project teams that are working on office, commercial, healthcare, sports, community, residential, and mixed-use projects. The qualified candidate should be self-motivated individual who can work within a team and serve clients on projects. You would be joining a company that supports community service, involvement in professional organization and professional development. Limited work from home schedule is offered for this position. This position will report to the Structural Group manager in the Silver Spring, Md office.

Responsibilities:

• Performing structural analysis and design calculations (beam, column, slab, foundation, walls for wood, concrete, steel, and masonry structures).
• Reading and developing contract plans and specifications.
• Performing field review for projects under construction and surveys of existing structures.
• Preforming construction administration duties such as reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or architectural Engineering (with focus on structures) from an accredited university. Master’s degree a plus.
• EIT certification required.
• 0 to 4 years of relevant experience in structural design of commercial, institutional, residential or infrastructure projects using concrete, steel and wood required. Experience should include structural design of new buildings, renovations, and additions.
• Candidate shall have a working knowledge and clear understanding of structural engineering principles.
• Knowledge of appropriate structural engineering design software required (e.g., RAM, ETABS, RISA, etc.)
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT is required.
• Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills required.
• Highly motivated and responsible individual with strong work ethic.
