Job summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer V for Raleigh, North Carolina. This role provides the opportunity to directly support transformational projects, including design-build efforts that uplift communities and improve lives.

Qualifications include a BA/BS with 8+ years of related experience and a PE license; Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred, with bridge design experience and proficiency in MicroStation and related tools.

Qualifications

• BA/BS plus 8 years of related experience (or equivalent).
• PE license is required.
• Preferred MS in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Bridge design and plan development experience in TN/AL/NC/SC region is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
• Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
• Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
• Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
• Prepares technical specification sections.
• Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

The job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
• Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
• Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by other.
• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
• Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
• Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
• Prepares technical specification sections.
• Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Qualifications

• BA/BS + 8 (eight) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• PE License is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering degree.
• 10 + years of bridge design and plan development experience
• Project experience in TN, AL, NC, SC region related to the states and/or local bridge design project work.
• Proficiency in software such as MicroStation, LEAP Concrete/Bridge, PTC MathCAD, CSiBridge and/or MIDAS Civil.
• Experience in the plan production of transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
• Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing.
• Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software)
• Knowledgeable of standard engineering practices, techniques and applicable codes
• Ability to do occasional field work (site visits and inspections) and travel.

Additional Information

• Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
• Relocation is not available for this position.
• Must be able to work in evenings or on weekends as needed, to perform outreach activities or staff public meetings.
