Pay Rate: $68 per hour
Duration: 12+ months
Summary
Our aerospace and defense client is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer III to support the design, analysis, testing, and certification of advanced aerospace and defense structures. This position will focus on metallic and composite structures and requires strong structural analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.
Description – Structural Engineer III
- Support the design and analysis of advanced metallic and composite aerospace structures.
- Perform detailed structural and static analyses and identify opportunities for design improvement.
- Perform engineering simulations using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
- Apply classical analysis and industry-standard hand calculation methods to structural engineering problems.
- Ensure structural designs meet applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering and development teams to integrate structural designs into overall systems.
- Develop, review, and support the execution of structural test plans.
- Apply systematic and logical problem-solving techniques to structural designs and analyses.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including engineering drawings, design specifications, structural analysis reports, and test reports.
- Communicate technical information, design requirements, and project updates to engineering teams, stakeholders, and management.
- Travel occasionally to support aircraft surveys, design reviews, and customer interface meetings.
Qualifications – Structural Engineer III
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of relevant structural engineering experience; a higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- Strong understanding of structural analysis and design principles.
- Hands-on experience performing static structural analyses.
- Experience with metallic structures.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and engineering simulation tools.
- Knowledge of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools.
- Ability to perform classical structural analysis using industry-standard hand calculations.
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
- Aerospace and defense industry experience preferred.
- Experience with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis preferred.
- Experience with NASGRO and/or AFGROW preferred.
- Familiarity with FAA, NASA, and/or DoD design and construction regulations preferred.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance, with clearance processing required upon hire.
