Role
SSOE is seeking a Structural Engineer to support structural design for semiconductor and advanced technology facilities, with emphasis on steel and strut configurations. The engineer will perform calculations, analyze load paths, produce technical documentation and drawings, coordinate with architectural, mechanical, process, and electrical teams, and support construction and startup activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed structural analysis and calculations for steel, trusses, frames, equipment platforms, and utility support structures.
- Design and optimize steel and strut-based systems with attention to efficiency, durability, and safety.
- Analyze existing structures for new loads and recommend strengthening solutions.
- Produce technical documentation, reports, and drawings that comply with codes and project criteria.
- Model, draft, and detail structural designs using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to integrate structural designs into facility plans.
- Participate in design reviews, manage design changes, and support issue resolution during construction and startup.
- Perform field verifications and site walks to validate conditions and incorporate solutions into design packages.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution; degree qualifying for PE licensure in the state of practice is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; PE/SE licensure is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of structural analysis techniques, building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Experience with structural analysis software such as RISA.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit for 3D modeling, drafting, and detailing structural systems.
- Experience performing field verifications/site walks and troubleshooting design issues in the field.
- Strong communication skills for technical writing, client presentations, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
