The Senior Structural Engineer will lead the structural design and delivery of large-scale advanced technology and semiconductor projects from early planning through construction administration. This role is responsible for selecting efficient structural systems, developing calculations and models, and guiding the production of coordinated construction documents that meet strict deflection, vibration, and seismic performance criteria. Working within an integrated design-build environment, the engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, process engineers, MEP leads, contractors, and clients to resolve technical issues, manage design changes, and maintain schedule and cost objectives. The role also includes reviewing risk, supporting field execution, and ensuring structural solutions are safe, durable, and buildable.

AI and Innovation

At SSOE, we don't just talk about the future, we build it. As a leader in industry AI adoption, we empower our team to work smarter by providing responsible access to the industry leading AI Large Language Models, vibe-coding platforms, and securely integrating advanced tools into every role. From day one, you'll receive the training and support needed to leverage AI as a core tool for enhancing productivity, sparking creativity, and streamlining complex workflows.

Responsibilities
  • Lead structural engineering efforts for cleanroom, fab, utility, support, and high-tech industrial facilities from conceptual design through construction administration.
  • Develop structural system concepts and perform system selection for steel, strut, concrete, and other load-bearing assemblies based on project performance, constructability, and schedule constraints.
  • Prepare, review, and oversee structural calculations, design narratives, and analysis models for gravity, lateral, seismic, and vibration-sensitive systems.
  • Perform and manage advanced structural analysis using industry-standard software, including linear and nonlinear static analysis, modal and response spectrum analysis, time-history seismic analysis, and vibration finite element modeling.
  • Establish and verify structural criteria related to deflection, vibration, serviceability, and code compliance for sensitive equipment and advanced manufacturing spaces.
  • Coordinate daily with multidisciplinary project teams, including architecture, MEP, process, facilities, and construction personnel, to ensure complete and integrated design solutions.
  • Produce and review coordinated construction documents, details, and specifications that support fast-track delivery and minimize field conflicts.
  • Lead technical reviews at key design milestones, participate in quality assurance and quality control checks, and resolve comments from internal teams, clients, and consultants.
  • Provide mentoring to junior and mid-level structural engineers, including technical guidance, task delegation, and professional development support.
  • Support design-build execution through contractor coordination, fabrication input, constructability reviews, and response to RFIs, submittals, and change events.
  • Participate in site walks, field observations, punchlist support, and construction administration activities to confirm installation aligns with design intent and project requirements.
  • Evaluate structural impacts of project changes, issue recommendations, and help manage risk, scope, and change control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and project leadership regarding structural decisions, schedule impacts, technical risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, calculation templates, modeling practices, and best practices for high-performance industrial facilities.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution, qualifying for professional engineer (PE) licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with Structural Engineer (SE) licensure preferred or the ability to obtain it.
  • 7 to 15 years of structural engineering experience, with significant exposure to semiconductor, advanced technology, cleanroom, or other mission-critical industrial facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading structural design for large, complex projects in an integrated design-build or fast-track delivery environment.
  • Strong technical background in structural analysis and design for steel, strut, and concrete systems, including vibration-sensitive and seismic applications.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard structural analysis and modeling tools used for linear and nonlinear analysis, modal studies, response spectrum analysis, time-history analysis, and finite element vibration modeling.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines, review design deliverables, and communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and internal team members.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership across active project teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical decisions and present solutions confidently to stakeholders.
  • Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000/year depending on location, education, depth of relevant experience, and any specialized licensure/certifications. Opportunity for ample rewards, leadership incentive components, and generous bonus opportunities.
  • Benefits: Includes comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, 401K retirement savings plan (with company matching), opportunities for professional development and training (including support for relevant licensure & certifications), and generous PTO & paid holidays.
