    Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

    Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

    Job Summary:

    Originate and check structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, material requisitions. Reviews and coordinates technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction. Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues. Participate in technical meetings and perform intra-discipline coordination.

    This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project. #LI-SB1

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Participates in the design, development,modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural componentsand processes.
    • Compiles, adjusts, and correlates data that willdevelop professional work knowledge andabilities through the application of standardCivil/Structural engineering techniques, procedures,and criteria utilizing relevant EngineeringDepartment Procedures (EDPs), designstandards and guides, Bechtel StandardApplication Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices(DRNs).
    • Prepares or participates in preparation of construction drawings, project schedules, graphic presentations, civil drawings, steel and concrete calculations, and material requisitions.
    • Checks manufacturers’ drawings and data for compliance with specification and design drawings.
    • Designs or participates in design for minor structures and portions of buildings.
    • Provides input to and/or maintains technicallogs and records.
    • Coordinates work and collaborates with otherengineering disciplines.
    • Coordinates development and presentation ofmaterial when requested.
    • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs,reports, or proposals.
    • Assists in constructability reviews.
    Education and Experience Requirements:
    • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Structural/Civil Engineering with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
    Required Knowledge and Skills:
    • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
    • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
    • Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
