Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a civil/structural designer to participate in planning, development, modification and review of project design work at Fab 62. You will help prepare 3D models, drawings, design estimates and work plans to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, budget and standards.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 2–5 years of relevant experience or 6–9 years in a similar capacity.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of design work within a medium-size structural design work group on projects of medium to large size or assignments in support of global business unit
• Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of foundations, concrete and steel superstructures, and steel detailing
• Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of structural engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters
• Communicates technical issues and recommends solutions
• Assists in the preparation of civil/structural design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget
• Follows Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), the company design guides, appropriate the company Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices
• Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work
• Reviews and approves key civil/structural engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries
• Ensures civil/structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards
