Job summary

Actalent, a growing engineering services firm, seeks a Structural Designer in Norwalk, CT. You will perform structural analysis and design for residential and renovation projects, with field work and site walk-throughs, and prepare detailed AutoCAD drawings.

You will collaborate with licensed engineers, clients and contractors to resolve technical issues, manage multiple projects, and ensure safety and durability of structures.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus.
• 2+ years of experience in structural engineering.
• Experience on building structures (not bridges/tunnels).
• Hands-on design with steel, lumber, masonry & concrete.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for structural drawings.
• Experience with site visits and inspections.
• Knowledge of structural steel, concrete and building envelopes.

Responsibilities

• Perform site walk-throughs to document existing conditions.
• Design structures using steel, cold-formed steel, lumber, masonry, concrete.
• Develop detailed structural drawings in AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with clients, engineers and contractors throughout projects.
• Conduct inspections during construction to verify compliance.
• Model and evaluate structural systems with analysis software.
