The Structural Drafter is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality structural construction documents for low- and mid-rise building projects. This role works closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to translate design intent into clear, coordinated drawings that meet established standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare structural construction documents, including foundation plans, framing plans, sections, and details, based on engineered sketches and design standards
- Develop and modify drawings using Autodesk Revit in accordance with project requirements
- Ensure drawings comply with internal drafting standards and participate in quality control reviews
- Coordinate structural drawings with architectural, MEP, and other discipline-specific team members
- Work independently or collaboratively under the direction of a supervisor in an office-based environment
- Assist engineers as needed with field measurements, site visits, and inspections
- Maintain organized project files and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in Drafting and Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience drafting low- and mid-rise building structures
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit; certifications preferred but not required
- Strong understanding of structural systems, construction documents, and drafting best practices
- Ability to read and interpret engineering sketches, markups, and design criteria
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
- Office-based role
- Work may be performed independently or as part of a project team
- Occasional field work may be required to support engineering staff
