Job description

Description
  • Join the structural design team to collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering and design project teams in creating structural physical layout drawings using 3-D modeling software.
  • Handle challenging assignments including designing structural supports and foundations, troubleshooting, and resolving a variety of structural design issues.
  • Use 3D modeling software tools to generate structural schematics.
  • Coordinate detailed design phases for an integrated structural design model.
  • Support other designers and project team members to ensure complete and timely delivery of designs.
  • Plan and execute structural design deliverables independently and as part of a team.
  • Potentially assist senior designers and engineers during field walkdowns and data collection at client facilities.
  • Guide others in using drafting tools and mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Associate's Degree in drafting or a high school diploma with relevant drafting coursework or technical experience.
  • At least four years of detailed design experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete drawings.
  • Proficiency with design software for 3D plant layout modeling.
  • Experience reviewing structural layout drawings, including steel frames, connections, concrete members, supports, foundations, and rebar detailing.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams in power plant projects.

Valued but not required:

  • Proficiency with MicroStation.
