Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is offering a hybrid role combining on-site and remote work opportunities. You will join the structural design team to develop 3-D structural layout drawings, lead detailed design phases, and coordinate multi-disciplinary efforts across projects.

Qualifications

  • A foundational undergraduate program in a technical area including drafting, or a high school diploma and 1 or more years drafting course work or equivalent technical experience
  • Ten (10) or more years of detailed design experience in the development of structural steel design and reinforced concrete design drawings
  • Proficiency with design software tools in executing 3D plant layout models
  • Experience in the review of structural layout drawings involving steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, foundations, and rebar detailing
  • Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process

Responsibilities

  • Work with multi-disciplinary engineering and design project teams to develop structural layout drawings in 3-D models
  • Design structural supports and foundations, and troubleshoot a wide range of structural issues
  • Generate structural design schematics using 3D modeling software
  • Lead coordination of detailed design phases for an integrated structural design model
  • Coordinate and guide other designers and project team members to ensure complete and timely design
  • Plan and execute structural design deliverables, independently or with a team
  • Participate in field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities
  • Mentor less experienced drafters and designers

Description

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent on site and working remote from home.

  • As a member of the structural design team, this position will offer you the opportunity to work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams in developing structural physical layout drawings in a 3-D model
  • Challenging assignments that include the design of structural supports and foundations, and investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of structural design issues
  • Utilize 3D modeling software tools to generate structural design schematics
  • Act as the structural design team lead in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated structural design model.
  • Participate in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated structural design model
  • Coordinate and provide guidance to other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design.
  • Independently and as a member of a design team, plan and execute structural design deliverables
  • There may be the opportunity to accompany and assist senior designers and engineers in field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • A foundational undergratuate program in a technical area including drafting, or a high school diploma and 1 or more years drafting course work or equivalent technical experience
  • Ten (10) or more years of detailed design experience in the development of structural steel design and reinforced concrete design drawings
  • Proficiency with design software tools in executing 3D plant layout models
  • Experience in the review of structural layout drawings involving steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, foundations, and rebar detailing
  • Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process

Valued but not required experience:

  • Proficiency with MicroStation and or AutoCAD
  • Associates Degree in Computer Aided Design
  • Experience using AutoCad and Microstation software.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design.

Compensation Range

$64,817 - $93,201
