Job summary

H&H, an established civil engineering firm in Reston, Virginia, seeks an Entry-Level Structural Designer to contribute to design efforts for transportation structures. The role requires a BS or MS in Civil/Structural Engineering, 0–2 years of relevant experience, and EIT certification or progress toward it.

You will work with SAP, CSI Bridge, LARSA 4D, Microstation, and AutoCAD as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• 0–2 years of relevant structural design experience.
• Experience with analytical software such as SAP, CSI Bridge, LARSA 4D.
• Experience with CAD software such as Microstation or AutoCAD.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design calculations (beam design, reinforced concrete and steel structures design and analysis).
• Read and develop contract plans, special provisions, and engineer's estimates.
• Assist with field inspections and condition assessments of transportation structures and facilities.
• Research design options and codes and discuss with the project manager.

Responsibilities

• Ability to perform structural design calculations (beam design, reinforced concrete and steel structures design and analysis), sketches, computer modeling, and similar technical work as required
• Ability to read and develop contract plans, special provisions, and engineer's estimates
• Assist with field inspections and condition assessments of transportation structures and facilities
• Research design options and codes and discuss with the project manager

Requirements

• BS or MS in Civil or Structural Engineering with zero to two years of relevant experience
• EIT certification or the ability to obtain an EIT certification within one year
• Experience with analytical software such as SAP, CSI Bridge, LARSA 4D, etc
• Experience with CAD software such as Microstation or AutoCAD
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A highly motivated and responsible individual with a strong work ethic
