Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking a Structural Associate Engineering Technician to support the design, analysis, and detailing of structural components for Overhead Transmission projects. The role focuses on creating and modifying structural models, drawings, and details using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and PLS-CADD under general supervision.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate preferred
• Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred
• Minimum 2 years related work experience may be required

Responsibilities

• Supports engineering teams under general supervision
• Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices
• Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)
• Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
• Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians
• Stay current on applicable standards, BV policies and procedures
• Apply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives
• Create and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs
• Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
• Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences
• Support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers
• Proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes

Education

Diploma or Certificate preferred; Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred
