This is a visible leadership position for a structural engineering professional with strong experience in Alternative Project Delivery, including design-build pursuits and project execution.
You will lead multidisciplinary teams, support high-profile pursuits, oversee structural design delivery, and build relationships with contractors, public agencies, and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Alternative Project Delivery pursuits across the NYC metropolitan area.
- Act as a key contact for contractors, design teams, marketing, and commercial management.
- Develop technical approaches, cost proposals, and pursuit strategies.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams on design-build and design-bid-build projects.
- Oversee structural design from early development through construction.
- Review deliverables for technical quality and compliance with agency standards.
- Provide QA/QC oversight for structural engineering work.
- Manage multiple projects and pursuits in a fast-paced environment.
- Mentor engineers and support their technical and professional development.
- Build relationships with clients, approval agencies, contractors, and industry partners.
- Support business growth and strengthen the local transit and rail practice.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of progressive structural engineering experience.
- Strong background in bridge, transit, or rail structures.
- Experience leading Alternative Project Delivery and design-build pursuits.
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary design teams.
- Experience delivering large-scale transportation infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of structural design, project delivery, and construction requirements.
- Familiarity with structural analysis and CADD/BIM software.
- Experience working with agencies such as MTA, PANYNJ, and NJ Transit.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including AREMA, NYC Building Code, ASCE, AISC, and ACI.
- Excellent leadership, communication, client management, and problem-solving skills.
Education and Licensing
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Graduate degree preferred.
- Active New York Professional Engineer license.
