Job summary

Meta Reality Labs is seeking a Structural Design Engineering Intern to join the Structural Design & Analysis team in Seattle. You will build finite element models, analyze AR/VR designs, support material characterization, and help verify and validate models under the mentorship of a senior engineer.

The role requires enrollment in an MS/PhD program in Mechanical Engineering or related field, solid mechanics fundamentals, and experience with FEA tools such as Abaqus, ANSYS, HyperMesh or SimLab.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an MS/PhD program in Mechanical Engineering or similar; final-year BS with relevant experience considered.
• Solid mechanics fundamentals, strength of materials, and finite element analysis.
• Coursework or project experience with FEA software such as HyperMesh, SimLab, Abaqus, ANSYS.

Responsibilities

• Own a scoped structural analysis project end to end, from problem definition to final readout.
• Build module-level finite element models to assess risk of failure modes (drop/shock, static strength, thermo-mechanical).
• Support correlation and validation of finite element models against physical test data with cross-functional teams.
