Job summary

PWI in Nappanee, IN is seeking a Structural Engineer to develop fabrication-ready drawings for overhead crane systems, mezzanines, and fall-protection structures. You will translate customer and field data into accurate 2D/3D CAD models, ensuring code compliance and shop/field readiness.

The role requires experience with Inventor/SolidWorks/AutoCAD and strong attention to detail. On-site work in Indiana, with some travel for measurements and customer meetings.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience using Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar 3D modeling software.
• Understanding of steel structures, fabrication methods, and how drawings translate to production and installation.
• Experience creating clear, fabrication-ready drawings with appropriate views, sections, and details.

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer and field information to develop designs.
• Design and model overhead crane systems, mezzanines, and fall-protection structures using 2D and 3D CAD software.
• Create detailed drawings, cut sheets, and documentation for fabrication and PE review.
• Ensure designs follow PWI standards and applicable building codes and best practices.
• Export machine files and provide documentation needed for fabrication and PE review.
• Visit job sites to gather measurements and verify existing conditions.
