Job summary

gpac is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join our team in Atlanta. You will participate in all project phases from preliminary design through construction support, delivering practical, code-compliant structural solutions.

The role emphasizes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring, and progressive design challenges. Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree with a structural emphasis and have 4+ years of related experience, with PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis or Structural Engineering.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
• 4+ years of structural engineering experience preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software such as RAM Structural System, RISA, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, or similar programs.
• Strong understanding of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NDS, and other applicable design standards.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design structural systems for commercial, industrial, municipal, and institutional projects.
• Prepare structural calculations, engineering reports, specifications, and construction documents.
• Develop designs utilizing steel, reinforced concrete, wood, and masonry construction.
• Perform structural analysis using industry-standard engineering software.
• Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and project managers throughout the design process.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction-phase support.
• Conduct occasional field visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
