Job summary

Thorson Baker + Associates, Inc. is a mid-size multidisciplinary engineering firm focusing on institutional and commercial building design across the United States and Puerto Rico.

We seek a structural engineer to contribute to design development, construction documents, and construction administration for diverse projects. The successful candidate will have a BS in civil (structural) engineering, strong communication, and proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil (Structural) Engineering required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Familiar with AutoCAD and Revit.
• FE/EIT certification a plus.
• Willing to travel nationally and work extra hours when needed.
• Able to engage in meetings with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Structural design of foundations, floors, roof, and lateral resistance systems for retail and commercial buildings.
• Prepare calculations and well-coordinated construction documents that are cost effective and constructible.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, other engineering disciplines, vendors, officials and consultants through design phases.
• Meet client schedules and internal design and construction administration time budgets.
• Office construction administration includes review of shop drawings and RFIs and coordination with contractors during construction phase.
• Travel nationally for site visits, design meetings, and preparation of detailed technical narrative reports.
