Job summary

Nucor Building Group is seeking an engineer to design metal building systems, covering framing, walls, roofs, and stability bracing. You will use design software, work with customers and teams, and provide economical structural solutions within manufacturing constraints.

The role requires a BS in Civil/Architectural Engineering, ABET accreditation, and passing the FE exam, plus legal US work authorization. Collaboration and innovation in design tools are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering/Architectural Engineering from an ABET Accredited school.
• Fundamentals of Engineering exam completed prior to hire.
• Proficient in verbal and written English.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor a visa).

Responsibilities

• Design all aspects of metal building systems (structural framing, walls, roofs, secondary members, stability bracing).
• Apply standard/non-standard design software for structural design.
• Provide economical, creative solutions within manufacturing constraints.
• Manage projects through effective communication with customers and teammates.
• Assist in enhancing design tools and software; contribute to new tool development.
• Perform quote engineering functions (preliminary design, scope clarification, proposals).
• Represent Nucor Building Group in project meetings to present design results and value engineering ideas.
