Title: Structural Design Engineer

Job ID: 1328

Location: Onsite - Oak Ridge, TN - Per Diem available for those who qualify

Start: Immediately, Long-term assignment

Must be US Citizen

The purpose of this position is to provide essential technical knowledge and perform engineering work as described below. This position serves as a staff engineer performing engineering assignments of intermediate complexity.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and minimum five (5) years of relevant experience
• Working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards
• Effective communication skills with project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
• Technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Intermediate knowledge of discipline codes and standards
• Ability to perform work in compliance with local, state, and federal codes and guidelines
• Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently within time constraints
• Proficiency in computer skills including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentation software
• Experience providing EPC services on commercial or industrial projects
• Experience with engineering analysis, 3D modeling, and 2D CADD in a multi-discipline environment
• Knowledge of structural calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures
• Experience with structural design software such as STAAD, STAADPro, and RISA3D
• Knowledge of Mathcad
• Understanding of analyzing complex structures, wind and seismic loading, dynamic analysis, computer modeling, and blast design

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license
• Experience with nuclear facilities and systems design under ASME NQA-1
• Practical field experience
• Experience with EPC projects for the U.S. Department of Energy, nuclear facilities, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries

Responsibilities

• Analyze technical problems and recommend solutions under supervision
• Develop and review specifications and design criteria
• Perform engineering analyses and calculations, specify materials, and solve technical issues
• Coordinate with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients
• Ensure compliance with the Project Quality Plan and procedures
• Manage project scope, cost, and schedule baselines
• Monitor and report on material quantities and provide forecasts
• Support procurement and subcontracting activities including bid evaluations and vendor reviews
• Assist with construction administration, RFI responses, and field changes
• Perform other duties as assigned
