Start: Immediately, Long-term assignment
Must be US Citizen
The purpose of this position is to provide essential technical knowledge and perform engineering work as described below. This position serves as a staff engineer performing engineering assignments of intermediate complexity.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and minimum five (5) years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards
- Effective communication skills with project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Intermediate knowledge of discipline codes and standards
- Ability to perform work in compliance with local, state, and federal codes and guidelines
- Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently within time constraints
- Proficiency in computer skills including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentation software
- Experience providing EPC services on commercial or industrial projects
- Experience with engineering analysis, 3D modeling, and 2D CADD in a multi-discipline environment
- Knowledge of structural calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures
- Experience with structural design software such as STAAD, STAADPro, and RISA3D
- Knowledge of Mathcad
- Understanding of analyzing complex structures, wind and seismic loading, dynamic analysis, computer modeling, and blast design
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer license
- Experience with nuclear facilities and systems design under ASME NQA-1
- Practical field experience
- Experience with EPC projects for the U.S. Department of Energy, nuclear facilities, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries
Responsibilities
- Analyze technical problems and recommend solutions under supervision
- Develop and review specifications and design criteria
- Perform engineering analyses and calculations, specify materials, and solve technical issues
- Coordinate with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients
- Ensure compliance with the Project Quality Plan and procedures
- Manage project scope, cost, and schedule baselines
- Monitor and report on material quantities and provide forecasts
- Support procurement and subcontracting activities including bid evaluations and vendor reviews
- Assist with construction administration, RFI responses, and field changes
- Perform other duties as assigned
