Job Description:

The Structural Engineer position at Zeeco will be responsible for designing various pieces of combustion equipment including but not limited to pressure vessels, steel stacks, derrick structures, and piping systems.

Job Duties:

1. Completing and/or checking structural calculations for a variety of equipment, including pressure vessels, steel stacks, derrick structures, and piping systems.
2. Work within engineering team to provide technical support and responses for structural related items.
3. Occasional travel to domestic and/or international locations for meetings or job site visits.
4. Give technical presentations to colleagues on various structural subjects.
5. Acting as the technical liaison with US and Global Location colleagues.
6. Communication with project execution team to ensure structural designs are made with materials and details that can be readily purchased on the market.
7. Communication with drafting and manufacturing teams to provide structural designs that can be most easily fabricated.
8. Assist Applications Engineers in structural topics for ongoing quotes.
9. Efficient, clear, and concise reporting of structural design packages.
10. Effective use of first principles to work through engineering challenges.
11. Continual vigilance to identifying areas of waste and inefficiency with action to improve these areas.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineer preferred)
2. 5+ years of experience in structural design
3. Excellent organizational skills
4. Aptitude to interpret specifications
5. Fluent in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
6. Professional Engineering License or willingness to obtain

The following design experience is considered a plus but not required:

1. Pressure vessel design
2. Steel stack design
3. Steel structure design
4. Wind design code principles
5. Seismic design code principles
6. Finite element analysis
7. Pipe stress analysis
8. Drafting software

The candidate should understand or have a willingness to learn the following codes and standards:

1. ASCE 7
2. ASME Section VIII Division 1
3. ASME STS-1
4. AISC 360
5. ASME B31.3
6. International equivalents of the above listed codes and standards
