Qualifications

Are we the road to your future?

We are currently searching for an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer in Training (E.I.) to support our Southeast Region located in Tampa, Orlando, or Tallahassee, FL.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

The ideal candidate will assist a team of Engineers on various projects such as structural design and engineering studies by performing tasks including research, development, design, plans production, and delivery on assigned projects.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Perform assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic structural engineering principles.
  • Projects may include design and repair of highway bridges and retaining walls, bridge load ratings, review of working drawings, and cost estimating.
  • Assist in the preparation of project quantities and cost estimates.
  • Assist in the analysis of structures using various structural engineering software programs.
  • Assist and prepare structural calculations and details of structural elements for materials such as steel and concrete.
  • Prepare structural drawings in Open Bridge, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
  • Work collaboratively as part of our Structures Team.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Emphasis in structural knowledge.
  • 1 – 5 years of structural engineering experience, preferably with FDOT.
  • Previous FDOT experience is desired but not required.
  • EIT (E.I.) Certification is required.
  • Experience with MicroStation.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
