Valmont Industries is seeking a structural back welder in Claremore, OK. You will operate a sub-arc welder to weld shafts, gouge and grind areas for ultrasonic inspection readiness, and repair defects under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, safe handling of welding gear, and prior heavy manufacturing experience or relevant trade school training. A strong focus on quality and timely production is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Incumbent to pass an AWS welder qualification test.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment or graduation from an accredited trade school with one year of experience.
• Knowledge of welding properties of various metals and alloys.
• Knowledge of welding procedures and practices; able to calculate formulas using basic math and standard measurements (U.S. and Metric).

Responsibilities

• Operate the sub-arc welder and set up poles for welding.
• Weld, grind, and repair shafts to pass final inspection.
• Repair seaming defects as directed by Quality Inspectors.

Apply now.**Available Shift:****2nd - Monday to Thursday 5:00pm - 3:30am****4th - Friday to Sunday 5:00am - 5:00pm.****Pay: $ $28.07/hour with a $2/hr night shift differential. Pay increases to reach $30.63/hr by 6-month anniversary.****BASIC FUNCTION:**This person operates a sub-arc welder and places a weld on one or four sides of the shafts. Prior to weld, operators must gouge and grind required areas clean enough to pass ultrasonic inspections post weld. This person will affect repairs and ensure quality prior to submitting the shaft for inspection by quality. **JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:*** Working from the directions of the supervisor, the job requires the movement of pole shafts into the seaming processor. Setting up and operate the sub-arc welder.* The incumbent will weld, grind, and repair each pole prior to present it to the Quality Inspectors. This person will also repair all seaming defect as directed by the Quality Inspectors.* Most of the work performed will be individually on a sub-arc welder. Essential tools and welding equipment will be provided; however, accountability and maintenance will be the employee’s responsibility.* Able to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time product without manufacturing errors.* Performs other duties as directed by leaders and management.* Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures. **SKILLS /QUALIFICATIONS:*** High School Diploma or equivalent* Incumbent to pass an AWS welder qualification test and be able to use the sub-arc welding equipment without difficulty.* A minimum of 3 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is desired or graduation from an accredited trade school with one year of experience.* Knowledge of welding properties of a variety of metals and alloys.* A thorough knowledge of welding procedures and practices are essential to ensure the quality of the product.
