Valmont Industries in Valley, Nebraska, is seeking a Utility Person for the 3rd shift to perform all phases of production and assist the shift supervisor. The role requires operating an overhead crane, supporting safety and quality, and back‑up for the shift lead to maintain smooth operations.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years welding or machine operation experience, reads blueprints, and can work with multiple pieces of equipment. Training and Lean manufacturing experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years welding or machine operation experience.
• Ability to learn midsize functions and operate at least 2 pieces of equipment, or 1 piece with pole setup.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and blueprints.
• Proficient with tape measure and shop mathematics for reading prints.

Responsibilities

• Operate and back up for shift lead, ensuring tools and materials are available.
• Support production to maintain high quality Valmont products in a safe, efficient manner.

Apply now.**Compensation:** $30.32 per hour**Schedule:** 3rd shift, Sunday - Thursday 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.**A Brief Summary of This Position**This is an individual contributor position that performs all phases of production and is responsible for filling in for the shift lead person during their absence. This individual performs duties associated with the assigned shift and assists the Shift Supervisor in ensuring employees have the tools and material they need to provide inspection and high-quality Valmont products.**Essential Functions:*** Ability to operate an overhead crane* Collaborate with department leadership to achieve continuous improvement and department goals* Assist with the training of others and complete appropriate paperwork* Provide feedback and input to Supervisor about team performance* Act as back up for the shift lead and area employees when needed* Maintain a productive working environment to manufacture high quality Valmont products in safe and efficient manner* The ability to operate 2 of the following, or able to perform pole setup with the ability to operate 1 of the following: trap shear and cut to length equipment, profiler, sub arc welder and/or HLAW, brake press.* Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the position* Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane**Important Details about the Role*** Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.* Ability to use considerable judgment to work independently towards team and department goals* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing* The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner**Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)*** Minimum of 3 years of welding or machine operation experience* Ability to learn all Midsize functions and at operate least 2 pieces of the equipment, or 1 piece with the ability to perform pole setup.* The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals and blueprints* The ability to use a tape measure* The ability to pass a forklift driver’s test* Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook* Knowledge of and ability to use common shop mathematics, in feet, inches, degrees, and fractions, in reading complex prints, and standard specifications.**Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications*** Associates Degree or higher preferred* Experience with the Midsize department or similar manufacturing machinery* Currently Welder C status or higher* Demonstrated experience in a Utility role at Valmont* Practical hands-on experience in Lean Manufacturing* Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results* Previous robotic welding experience**Benefits**Valmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and family’s overall wellness needs are met.
