Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti in Dallas seeks an Associate to join our Structural Practice. You will lead teams, ensure delivery of complex technical projects, and support business development opportunities for high-rise, retrofit, and infrastructure work.

The role requires eight plus years of structural engineering experience, a Master’s degree preferred, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines to meet client needs and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the direction, coordination, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility.

• Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staff according to project requirements.
• Perform analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes.
• Manage other design team members and supervise engineers and draft persons.
• Directs project staff in preparing contract documents, such as drawings and specifications.

The Role

We have a new opportunity for an Associate to join our Structural Practice in Dallas. Candidates for the position will lead teams, ensuring delivery of complex technical projects, while supporting business development opportunities. Projects include new construction and retrofit in high rise, sports facilities, transportation, government and education buildings.

Responsibilities

• Lead the direction, coordination, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility.

• Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staff according to project requirements.

• Directs project staff in preparing contract documents, such as drawings and specifications.

Requirements

• 8+ years of structural engineering experience, including demonstrated project and staff management similar in function, size and scope to the above description.
• Master’s preferred in structural or civil engineering.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines.
