Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join our Structural Practice. You will coordinate design work with internal teams and other design professionals while engaging with clients to define project requirements and scope.

The role involves performing analysis and design of structural systems for diverse building types, and managing deliverables across the project lifecycle. Travel within the US and abroad may be required as part of project assignments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
  • Experience with SAP2000, ETABS, Ram, Revit or AutoCAD preferred.
  • Willingness to travel within the US and internationally.

  • Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Plan and organize project staff according to project requirements.

The Role

We have an opportunity for a Structural Project Engineer to join our Structural Practice. Candidates for the Structural Engineer position should have experience in small to mid-size projects such as cultural buildings, office buildings, health care, research facility design, and tenant renovation work, preferably in a consulting engineering firm environment.

Responsibilities
  • Coordination of design work with in-house staff as well as other design professionals including Architects and other Engineering disciplines.
  • Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staff according to project requirements.
  • Perform analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes.
  • Manage project design and deliverables.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of current industry software, including SAP2000, ETABS, Ram, Risa3-D, StructurePoint, Revit, and AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Knowledge of parametric modeling tools (e.g., Grasshopper) is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.
