Job summary

CTS International seeks an Experienced Structural DaDT Analyst for the Durability & Damage Tolerance program in Oklahoma City. You will perform finite element analyses and durability life calculations to assess airframe structural integrity.

The role requires 10+ years in structural analysis and fracture/fatigue/DaDT work, proficiency with Hypermesh, Abaqus, Nastran, and crack growth tools, and the ability to lead repair development.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree.
  • Ability to independently construct, execute, review, and manage FEM models for DaDT.
  • Expertise in linear elastic fracture mechanics.
  • Expertise with Paris Law and Spectrum Analysis.
  • Experience with crack growth analysis tools (NASGRO, AFGROW, GROWTH, NASA/FLAGRO, BEAS).
  • 10+ years of experience in structural analysis.
  • 10+ years of experience in fracture, fatigue, and/or DaDT analysis.
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with DaDT analysis methodologies and FEM processes.
  • Perform DaDT and durability life calculations for fracture-critical parts.
  • Verify fleet risk using single flight probability of failure methods.
  • Develop and use FEMs and analysis tools to define airframe structural environment and performance.

Contractor: Experienced Durability & Damage Tolerance (DaDT) Analysis Engineer

The Company Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Experienced Contractor Structural DaDT Analysts to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A successful member of this team will understand and execute repairs, modifications, upgrades, and DaDT analysis for the Bombers (B-1 and/or B-52) programs.

  • Ensures compliance with methodology and processes for stress analysis, DaDT analysis, and finite element modelling in the accomplishment of work
  • Performs Failsafe Analyses, durability life calculations, and determines Damage Tolerance for fracture critical parts
  • Familiar with Single Flight Probability of Failure methods for determining fleet risk
  • Verifies structural integrity by defining requirements for development of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop the airframe structural environment, characteristics, and performance of the product
  • Ensures USAF Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) requirements are met for airframe analysis and validation
  • Calculates inspection intervals for fleet aircraft based upon calculated crack growth rates
  • Develops and uses various Finite Element Models for crack growth coefficients
  • Understands proper application of loads in FEMs
  • Understands industry best practices in airframe primary structure and load paths
  • Supports product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the repair development effort.
  • Leads repair development, integration and documentation of structural requirements to establish the system design.
  • Works under minimal direction.

The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Oklahoma City site.

12+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.

What you'll need

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering
  • Able to independently construct, execute, review, and manage structural finite element models in the area of DaDT
  • Expertise in linear elastic fracture mechanics
  • Expertise with Paris Law & Spectrum Analysis
  • Experience with classic crack growth analysis tools (such as NASGRO, AFGROW, GROWTH, NASA/FLAGRO, and/or BEAS)
  • 10 or more years of experience in structural analysis
  • 10 or more years of experience in fracture, fatigue, and/or DaDT analysis
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance
  • Familiarity with Company Books 1, 2, 3 & 4 with an emphasis on Durability and Damage Tolerance
  • Experience with Hypermesh, StressCheck, Abaqus CAE, and/or Nastran
  • Familiarity with Lifeworks
  • Graduate level or Senior level coursework in Fatigue & Fracture Mechanics
  • Experience validating or verifying finite element model results
  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques)
  • Experience with Aircraft Primary Structures on Company Commercial Derivatives – Commercial and/or Military applications (737, 747, 757, 767 & 777)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
