Structural Analysis Engineer
Under the direction of the program lead engineer and/or the chief engineer, perform structural sizing and layout for new or existing modular shelters, design, and related ground support equipment. Assignments will require experience with detailed analysis procedures, loads development, FEM analysis, load member sizing, structural integrity evaluations, composite materials allowable development, dynamic evaluations, and weight considerations.
Thermal analysis using hand calculations, network analysis, and/or CFD may be required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Act as the Structural Analysis Engineer for simple and complex projects as assigned.
- Manage effort and time within the budget and schedule provided for the task.
- Understand customer requirements and prepare designs in accordance with customer and derived requirements.
- Prepare formal, controlled engineering documentation (e.g., analysis reports, analysis procedures).
- Prepare and present design review material in support of technical interchange meetings with suppliers and internal/external customers.
- Ensure customer satisfaction related to projects.
- Support system testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Support customer testing, data reduction, analysis, and reporting.
- Prepare test plans and reports.
- Follow safety precautions.
- Maintain a clean work area and equipment.
- Comply with established QMS procedures.
- Support business development efforts, including quotes, proposals, and sales efforts as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
- Effective interaction with peers, supervisors, and the public when necessary.
- Effective professional communication in writing and verbally with all levels of personnel.
- Adherence to workplace rules.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance of the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BS degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Proficiency with classical stress analysis required.
- Demonstrated passion for customer satisfaction and ability to work cross-functionally to meet program requirements.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with FEA (ANSYS preferred).
- Familiarity with the Defense industry is required for Mid-Career applicants; preferred for Early Career.
- Experience in areas such as vibration (cyclic or random), shock, modal, thermal (hand calculations, FEA, or CFD), composite materials, test design, fatigue, and Environmental Control Units (ECU).
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Location: Dallastown, PA
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods, perform repetitive motions, lift up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent outside contact with customers and suppliers; may require travel (5-10%).
